My artistic practice is concerned with the in-between(s) of what is instantly familiar yet somehow unknowable, blurring the possibility of an absolute subject or object, sameness or difference, public or private. My work is a merger of sorts, a convergence of varied circumstances imposed and possessed by a body, and the specificity and performativity of that body as both its agent and site. The work plays with notions of space - literal three dimensional places, such as the home, the body and the city, as well as the more liminal and liquid territiries that relate to the spaces within memory, narrative and time. In this context, architecture as space that supports and frames notions of identity is shown to produce the stage upon which human subjectivity is enacted and performed. My focus is on the inherent complexities within spatial discourses and how i seek out, appropriate and remake these spaces as habitable. The work questions the genderedness of spaces and gestures in order to call attention to the slippage or play that is present within their very production. I am waging a renovation - a process of reordering space and of taking or claiming place
