I have been involved with some artists, in the execution of some public sculptures, both as a student and a lecturer. Of great fascination to me is Man’s socio-economic and political behaviour, which informs my direction of work. I have moved from many levels of artistic voyage, moving through bronze works to my most recent works which explores the most common waste material (bottle tops, and fabric off-cuts) Precisely my works have tried to achieve that common figure of speech among some ethnic groups in Nigeria that whenever an issue becomes grievous, it should be reconsidered as a joke. I sculpt burning subject in bronze, but in caricature forms to provoke laughter rather than serious reflections. This method can be compared to that of a cartoonist, because what a cartoonist will put on paper I try to produce in 3- dimensional art. Although, most of my figures are distorted, I still try to maintain a striking resemblance to reality. Lately, I am exploring into using waste or rejected materials, such as bottle tops, and leftover fabric from tailors, for recycling to create my sculptures. The bottle tops composition is usually combined with mild steel rods of varying sizes, while that of fabric is combined with resin. Recently my interest is gradually shifting towards performance Art.

My recent interest in performance art, having moved from many levels of artistic voyage, is an inspiration from the contemporary Art development, which is more of experimentation, and I try hard to always search for new forms of creativity. I aspire to create my art from anything I see around. The feeling of working away from my own usual studio experience is a step to rediscovering my identity in the world of the Arts.
