The forecast said rain but the optimists met at the Sports Centre.
We turned left as we left the ASDA car park and walked up to Cam Lane. Crossing Cam Lane, we entered the field and the walkers were immediately concerned by the number of cows and calves. We circled round them to the right and made the stile into Dog Kennel Wood (you'll have noticed by now that I only know the names of two of the Park's woods). We walked downhill and crossed the cycle track and walked along the river bank against the flow.
When we came to the first stepping stones a little concern was shown by one of us but she plucked up courage and walked across. We continued through the field almost to Town Brow but then crossed back over the river by the more inviting stepping stones. Needless to say one of us stepped into the water! We walked back along the field and came out on to the cycle track, through the trees, just before the pond on the left.
We headed north along the cycle track and up the steps to the lake. We spotted two herons near the oveflow. We walked round the lake, up the hill and back to the sports centre along the path we usually take from the Sports Centre. We had tea/coffee and biscuits in the upper corridor - our usual room seems to be occupied these days.
June, Jim, Helen and Mary are all away on holiday so only Jacquie, Carole, Michael and Gaz took part but it was a thoroughly enjoyable walk and we just made it back to the Sports Centre as it was starting to rain.
Sorry no photos, Michael forgot his camera!
