Tuesday 11th September - A lovely sunny morning with a slight nip in the air - perfect for walking.
Setting out from the Sports Centre, walking through Green Wood we came up to the meadow and walked along the top path. There was a bull in the field which concerned a few of us so Gareth was persuaded to change his plans and go straight down to the lake, avoiding the menacing monster, actually he was quite harmless.

We're well on our way now having just climbed up from the stone bridge

Photo 5 is a composite. Photo six shows what I believe to be the oldest part of the existing Hall. From here we went round the front of the Hall and along the drive, Cinder Path and into Cock Cabin Wood.

Having just emerged from Cock Cabin Wood where we walked round Cock Cabin Pond. Photo 7 - from where this photo was taken there used to be a track which continued, from the track we are stood on right up to the Hall. You can see this quite clearly on the map below. From where we are stood the track ran down to Stag Lodge. I believe this is is the track that the family used to go to St. Saviour's Church, where I was christened and went to Sunday School.

Making our way down to the Stone Bridge again, the river is quite high and flowing fast - looks like molten lead.

On our way back to the Sports Centre now through Green Wood
All ten of us had enjoyed the morning's outing and are looking forward to the next walk, which will be something different. Next Tuesday Gareth goes down to Birmingham for an awards ceremony so we are all meeting in the Town Brow Car Park and planning to walk to Lower Kem Mill.
You can actually see from the photographs that it was a sunny morning but we were extremely lucky to get so much sun. We had left the Sports Centre in light rain, which fortunately petered out very soon.
