Tuesday 26th January - Health Walk from the Barn. Brian was our leader today with David acting as Backmarker. It was Brian's first walk as leader since qualifying as a Natural England Health Walk Leader in November last year. Brian is taking over responsibilities for organising the Barn CVP Health Walks.
Irene joined us in her motorised wheelchair. Brian led us away on Park Walk No.1. This was down to the stone bridge and round the lake.
Irene and I arriving at the top of the lake, the others waiting for us. We had to follow the path whilst the main party walked up the steps at the northwest end of the lake and round the lake.
Posing, then, in the second photo, David is telling us that there are male and female Goosanders at the north east corner of the lake and that the Great Crested Grebes have arrived. David went on to explain how the grebes would behave when they start their mating dance over the next days.
The next stage was up into Dog Kennel Wood and into Gravel Hole Wood then down to the cycle track, over the new bridge, up through the Pinetum and back to the Barn.
Refreshments in the Barn where we started to make plans for the rest of the year. Possibly adding the second Thursday in the month to the Barn walks, summer evening walks and a picnic in the Walled Orchard on Jubilee week.
