Tuesday 8th January -  Starting from the Sports Centre today with Gareth leading. there were fourteen of us plus Gareth.

Well the rain didn't stop, just got wetter!

Carmel and Anne led off and took us along the top of Green Wood and down to Hawks Clough then along the side of the lake.

The rangers and volunteers have been busy clearing some of the old conifers.

Gareth took charge and led us up the hill towards the Barn.  I was tempted to use the stepping stones, I'd fallen behind, but thought better of it.  We paused at the Gregson's memorial seat and then continued to the Pinetum and returned down the hill to the cycle track and up through Gravel Hole Wood into the field, no cows again, and across Cam Lane back to the sports Centre.

As we climbed over the stile at the top of the field I offered to bring the car to take a few of the tired ones back to the Sports Centre and they were truly grateful, it had been a challenging walk with all the gradients and soft underfoot.

Afterwards Sue and I decided to have lunch in the Beaumont and we were well received and filled up to the brim with excellent food, too much to allow room for a sweet.
