A Glorious Easter Weekend at Glasson Sailing Club when we were blessed with almost perfect weather.

Good Friday 6th April was the Glasson Sailing Club Millennium Bridge Race. the race is organised to support the Maritime Festival, previous held at teh Martitme Museum in Lancaster. The race halfway point is outsidethe museum where boats turn to return to the Club.

The sun was shining, the wind force 3 - 4 from the west.

After a confused start the boats got underway and sailed toweards Lancaster.  A big THANK YOU to Doug & Chris Gorton who manned the Patrol Boat/Safety Boat/Rescue Boat (See bottom of message) over all four days of the Easter Weekend, as they do selflessly every Easter.

Ten Dinghies/Dayboats took part.  Eight dinghies, a Musto Skiff – Mark Bamber, a Dart 15 – Frank Bamber, a Wayfarer – Ivan Haslam & Arnold Price, an Enterprise – Roger & Elizabeth Pearce, a Comet – Anne Bourner, a West Eleven (Mirror) – Colin & James Lambert, the two of Mirrors - Stephen Tomkinson & Michael Swarbrick and a Kittiwake dayboat – Dunham family, sailed up to the Millennium Bridge at Lancaster in glorious sunshine and perfect wind. I think the Rayson family set off in Sea Spray but I don’t remember seeing them on the water.

Michael Swarbrick was the eventual winer, in Jaja's newly restored Mirror.  Stephen Tomkinson suffered a gear failure when leading allowing Michael to pass him.
