2009 North West IcicleSeries Icicle 7 Back to Dinghy Homepage Saturday 24th January 2009 Another early start and the weather station reading zero wind made some members get back into bed. However Peter & Adrian Johnson, Lark, Andrew Hunter, Graduate, and Michael Swarbrick, Topper came up to the Club and deliberated whether it was worth going out. The was a little wind, roughly from WSW. It was quite a nice morning, a little cold but pleasant with sunshine on the horizon. We couldn't persuade Peter and Adrian to race but Michael and Andy decided to have a go. Peter and Adrian launched and headed up river. They used the light winds to brush up their sailing without a rudder. It was almost high water when Michael and Andy got into the water and as there was hardly any wind we decided to sail up river of the Club (so that the tide would bring us back) as well. Andy lent Michael one of his paddles just in case. There was only time for one race. We created a start line of John Glynn's mooring and the eastern end of the Club toilet block. We then wove in and out of the moorings, up and down and sideways and finished the race by rounding racing mark 'M' at the entrance to Conder creek. Michael didn't have his glasses on so he mistook a floating seagull for the mark 'M' - ha ha. 'Library' photos:
