2012 Frostbite 9 Saturday 17th November 2012 - Glasson Sailing Club Please click on the photos to see a larger one. A lovely sunny day with a gentle to moderate mainly westerly breeze, gusting fresh (F3 to F4 - F5). Seven boats turned out to race but as far as I can make out only two completed the course. Many thanks to OOD Ivan, Ivanocean. The racers were given the choice of racing round the buoys or joining Norman Rice Pudding's sail up to Snatchem's and it proved to be no contest, almost everyone wanted to join Norman. Ivan and John selected the course, which was up to the Carlisle Bridge at Lancaster, round the pillars and back to the Club. Ivan controlled the start and, as the fastest boat, was to time the racers. Only two boats actually completed the course and unfortunately the timekeeper was thoroughly wet and cold so unable to complete the timing therefore I've decided to total the points for the first and second and give them half each. Joint winners - Ivan, Laser, and John & Jack, Enterprise - 8 points each. Enyoing their outing but technically retiring, in no particular order, - 1 point each: Kath & Anthony, YW Dayboat Also sailing up the river were: Val & Jeff, Secret Water Ther were no takers for Frostbite 10, Sunday 18th November. The latest standings, due to a quirk of the system Michael's still leading but the first four boats are only separated by 3 points. It will all change on the next race day! The next Race Day, 11, is Saturday 1st December, the first race starting prompt at 1115 hours. |
