Steve's Video
Many thanks Steve Speakman, who did the OOD duty, also for taking some photos - the photos will be added soon.
What a day! Fine but rather windy, North F3 - 4 with wicked gusts.
Four dinghies turned out including Duncan Booth with his, new to him, Comet.
The course was Ss - Bs - Gs - Ap - 18s - Ss -
Two laps, we were all 'slow' boats.
We managed two races today.
No Patrol Boat, we needed one today, we should always have one when there is racing! However we had a boat nearby - Fleetwood Lifeboat, I think, on a courtesy visit to Glasson.
Heading for the jetty, Big John in Penny Diamond, coming straight from Conway - that's why he wasn't racing.
These are the three photos Big John took before the race started - here we are jockeying for position before the start gun. For the first race John and Ian had a reef in the Bosun but shook it out for the second race.
Slippers is well in the lead here but moments later he had a little fun in the ISO or should I say in and out of the ISO . Slippers is well on the way to catching Jack for the 'Most Capsizes Trophy'.
Resting after the first race.
Slippers leading again in the second race
but it was Michael's day, winning both races after handicap.
All over now but we all struggled to get ashore in the stiff onshore breeze but fortunately we didn't sustain any damage.
Ivan thinks we should not leave the launching trolleys on the apron when we have high tides like today - they do get in the way sometimes.
Because of the difficult wind conditions Duncan decided to hold back and launched after the first race had started meaning to race but didn't get going. He was going to toke part in the second race but again decided not to after he had launched. It was unfortunate that the wind strengthened considerably at the start of both races, easing off once the race was in progress.
