An outline of my Club history:

I joined the Club in July of 1981.  Since the mid eighties I've been involved in committee work in various guises.  I was elected on to the committee, sponsored  by Ernie Smith and Brian Roberts.

Shortly afterwards Ernie, who was Moorings' Officer had to resign because his wife became seriously ill and I was levered into the position of Mooring's Officer, which I carried out for a few years.

After a year off the committee I was elected Secretary at the AGM  in Spring 1989  and for a time did the Treasurer's and Membership Secretary's job as well.  The Secretary at that time prepared the newsletter so I was also newsletter editor, I think something I also did for a while when I became Membership Secretary.  After a few years as Secretary the responsibility became too much for me and I abandoned the job in August 1992.

I was made Vice-Commodore, at  the AGM in 1992.

I was persuaded to become Rear Commodore Racing some time later and did that for a year but wasn't really suitable as I'm not a dinghy racer the 'starboard' rule being the only rule I understand even today.

Then I became ill and gave up all my responsibilities at the AGM of 1997.  I was eventually pensioned off work in 1998.

At the AGM of 1999 I thought I could get involved again and as the Membership Secretary's job (Rear Commodore Membership according to the rules) was vacant and only clerical I volunteered for that, which I did for five years.

The dinghy racing was in chaos so, even though I wasn't on the Committee, I started to organise the racing and with a short break in 2010/11 I took over again, still unofficially but the mainsheet records my efforts.

In late 2013 I objected to the Committee's attempt to take powers away from the members and was susequently vilified at the AGM and in the Newsletter.  The Club is no longer the love of my life.
