Monday 18th April - Damian came up from London. We picked him up in the morning and he and I went for a walk across the Moss and through the Lodges in the afternoon.
I love to hear the Skylarks, one of the few birds whose call I can identify, and they are still nesting on the moss as are the lapwings, again one of the bird calls I can recognise.
Some of the flora that we spotted on the Moss:
We left the moss and walked north alongside the by-pass, which was hidden by the scrub. Along Chain House Lane and then into Church Road. We waited twenty minutes to get this photo of the railcar!
Now the flora along the Lodges:
This tree was recently cut down but it's fighting back already, strong shoots all round the sawn off trunk
This blackthorn is at the end of Lodge Lane. There are many Blackthorn trees around here and this year the blossom has been heavy.
It clouded over towards the end of our walk, as you can see by the photo of the railcar.
