Health Walk - Tuesday 30th September 2014

Today was my, Michael, first walk since 19th August. (On 19th August I fell of our steps and have been recovering since.) It was a lovely sunny autumn morning but it could have been spring. There are many leaves on the ground which I think is a bit early but it could be due to the dry summer.
There were eight of us and we set off towards the Lake at Jackie's suggestion. We walked through the car park and down the hill. Just before we reached the Stone Bridge I asked if any one would mind if we tried a new variation on Route 4 avoiding the Cinder Path. Everyone agreed so we set off north along the cycle track (National Route 55) and entered Cock Cabin Wood. See map of route at the end.

Our first rest so that I could take a photograph, the first one of the group since 19th August.
We carried on through the wood and back down to the Stone Bridge.

We would have rested again but the seat was occupied. The fisherman volunteered to move all his equipment but we said no it was OK and we pressed on round the Lake.

We managed to make it to the picnic bench on the east side of the Lake near the Boathouse

A man and his dog were interesting the ducks. No geese today?

After climbing up into Dog Kennel Wood I was beginning to wilt and am now struggling behind!
We are in Gravel Hole Wood about to descend to the Cycle Track.

I like this view up towards Cam Lane, seems very pastoral

Over the New Bridge (is it now called the Wooden Bridge?) and we rested again as we came into the Pinetum. Only a few more metres now to the Barn where we tucked into our refreshments.
