Eight boats took to the water, seven racing:
Alex & Michael M - Heron;
Big John - Enterprise;
Giles - Lytham Pilot;
Ivan - Laser ;
John & Ian - Bosun; Peter & Dave - Keyhaven Scow;
Slippers - Topper
Not racing:
Chorley John, Sam & Natalie - Hobbit - It was Sam & Natalie's first time on the water in a sailing dinghy
Michael Swarbrick was the OOD.
It was a nice day, almost perfect for sailing, perhaps the wind was a little strong at times.
The course for the first race was: Ss - Cs - Gs - Ap - 18s - Ss.
There was a little confusion at the start because Giles was over the line but one or two other weren't sure if it was them! Unfortunately the tide swept three of the the boats upstream and they were unable to make the start - one of these was the new entrant, Alex and Michael M. This persuaded John Hobbit that, as his crew were new to dinghy sailing, they would just concentrate on sailing, Sam having the first hour and Natalie the second.
Ivan returned to recross the line after having got away to a good start - it was tounch and go if he was over the line but one of the other boats must have persuaded him he was.
Ivan & Big John
Unfortunately Big John's kicking-strap anchorage broke away from his mast and he was unceremoniously dumped into the water.
Slippers on the right towards the end of the first race. The other boat is Ian & John who had by now managed to get past the clubhouse.
The course for the second race was: Ss - As - Gs - 18s - Ss, we used that course for both races.

The highlight of the second race was the contest between Giles & Peter, the third photo is on a lap later and they were still together at the end. Unfortunately Giles had missed a marker out at the start so even though he finished ahead Peter won.
Alex and Michael M in their first race doing well - Michael's a big too big for this little Heron

The end of a good afternoon
Ivan, sailing well again, won both races and is leading the series.
