It was a nice day but in contrast to yesterday there was hadly any wind! Alan Round has kindly supplied five photos.
The course for the first race was: Cs - Gs - Ap - 18s - Ss (Open line start).
The above three photos are by Alan Round.
No recalls at the start. Unfortunately the tide swept two of the boats upstream and one was unable to make the start

You can see that there is hardly any wind at the start. Ivan crept into the lead but, after a long time and hard working beat, Martin and Sammy were the first to round mark C at the end of the first leg.

Ian and John who evebtually retired. Jack leading Dad. Only four boats managed to complete one lap.
Slippers trying to get to the first mark but the tide eventually got the better of him and he retired.
Jack also struggling but he did get round ventually. Martin & Sammy finishing
Fortunately the wind increased a little raising enthusiasm for the second race.
We were down to five now, a reasonable start for all of them. I decided that in case the wind dropped again, we would race round a short course and finish after Martin ans Sammy had been sailing for thirty minutes - jokingly saying to them you'll do six laps, which in the end they had to do!
The course was: Ss - As - 18s - Ss.
Slippers leadingthe fleet or is he?
I was quite pleased as all the boats finished within two minutes twenty seconds of each other therefore all experiencing the same tide and wind conditions.
The RS400's passed the Topper on the first leg of their second lap. They passed the Phantom on the second leg of their second lap. They passed the Topper for the second time on the first leg of their fifth lap passed the Enterprise on the second leg of the same lap and the Phantom for the second time on the same leg. They passed the Laser on the third leg of their fifth lap, doing six laps before the thirty minutes ran out.
Only the RS400 did six laps, the Laser and Enterprise doing five, the Phantom four and the Topper three.
Eight boats took to the water, seven racing:
Alex & Michael M - Heron;
Big John - Enterprise;
Ivan - Laser ;
Jack - Phantom: John & Ian - Bosun; Martin & Sammy - RS400; Peter & Slippers - Topper
Not racing:
Dave - Solution
Michael Swarbrick was the OOD.
