A dry morning with rain clouds, occasional sun and very windy. We had twelve walkers - Carmel, Elizabeth H, Helen, Irene, Jacqueline, Jillian, Jim, June, Maureen, Michael, Sandy and Sue.

Setting off all together, no shirt sleeves today, back to cold weather clothing.
Michael decided to lead and he led round the sunny side of the Hall and down towards the Stone Bridge

As we left the Hall behind Jim, June and Sue decided they would leave us and do a new short walk.
We carried on over the Stone Bridge and up round the Lake and into the field

At the top off the steps Jacqueline decide she was tiring and decided to walk back down the field, along the valley floor and up through the Pinetum. Carmel walked with her - green route on map.
The rest of us continued up the field to Hawks Clough and then down and up through Green Wood passing along the back of ASDA and up on to Cam Lane. We crossed and walked towards the stile into the field and felt the full force of the biting cold wind.

Walking down and across the Cow Field we spotted a cow and it took some persuading to get some of us to carry on. We did and the cow didn't bother us. There are so many stories about cows attacking people that it's hard to know what to do. My Grandad had a small farm so I'm used to cows but others have had bad experiences.

The stiles on this part of the walk are challenging to some of us, this one is high but the ground at field side of the one at the top of the field is badly worn away and it has a deep final steep which we struggle with.

Descending through Gravel Hole Wood to the Cycle Track. We climbed up into the Pinetum and back to the Barn where Jim, June and Sue and Jacqueline and Carmel were waiting for us.
Jim, June and Sue did a rather strange walk - see map below - blue route.
