There were fourteen of us today. Carmel, Carol, Carole, David H, Elizabeth M, Frankie, Irene S, Linda D, Linda E, Mary, Michael, Peter, Sandy and Sue.
Bright, dry, overcast but sunshine promised.
David was persuaded to lead again! He took us into the Pinetum, up along the viewing path - a few of Tuesday's walkers had expressed interest in what was up there, Peter and a few of the leading walkers saw a Nuthatch on the feeder, and down to the Wooden Bridge.

Sue didn't feel up to walking through the woods with the many hills so Carmel went with her along the river.

The rest of us turned right and up into Gravel Hole Wood

The dog seemed reluctant to go into the water but the woman seemed determined it would however when she threw the stick it didn't bring it all the way back.

There were seeds floating everywhere and scattered on the ground - autumn's approaching too fast

What are all these children with sheets of paper? Of course it's the Orienteering for Adventurous Children organised by the Park. The woman in Photo 39 said they had taken part in all the summer events and thoroughly enjoyed them - well done staff and volunteers!

The Sloes don't seem very good this year, perhaps the good ones have been picked already
Photo 46
I was way behind, having stopped to talk to the woman in Photo 39, so I don't know what's happening at the end of the cinder path, looks like more orienteers but the group seems interested?

Nearly home

This stump, as we turned off the main drive, looked rather sad but it must have caused concern because there is a notice pinned to the other side explaining that the tree had been declared dangerous by a tree surgeon.
After walking along the river Sue and Carmel crossed the Stone Bridge and walked along the same route as us but turned back at Cock Cabin Pond and walked home via Snake Hill - green route
