Overcast with the threat/promise of rain. We were fortunate in having a mostly dry walk although it was wet underfoot and a few parts of the paths were muddy and waterlogged.
Today we had thirteen walkers - Brian, Carmel, Harry, James, Lawrence, Linda E, Linda P, Maureen, Michael, Oliver, Pat, Paul and Sue.
Michael was leading and we set off into the Pinetum and up to the viewing area where we saw Squirrels and Long Tailed Tits amongst other birds.
We carried on to the the Wooden Bridge and turned left to walk along the river.
As we approached the Stone Bridge Carmel and Sue elected to leave us and walked up Snake Hill. When they reached the kissing gate at the top they turned right and walked round the Hall, down the drive into Cuerden Close, along Shady Lane and up Berkeley Drive to the Barn - green route and arrows. Where there are green arrows on a red route that is were they walked the same route as us.
We walked up into the Field and eventually passed the Ponderosa and descended into Green Wood. We walked along the top of Green Wood, descending to Hawks Clough again, back into the Field and down the steps to the Lake

As the Lake opened up before us I spotted the Heron and gradually realised there were two Cormorants as well. There were many Black Headed Gulls, Ducks, Moorhens and Coots around.
As it promised rain I'd left my best camera at home and my waterproof camera is no where near as good, sorry.
We walked round the Lake, down the steps to the Picnic Area where one of Brian's Grandsons said to the other, who was walking through a deep pool, "You shouldn't do that" to which the other replied "I'm washing the mud of my shoes".
We crossed the Stone Bridge and continued up Snake Hill to the Barn.

Work continuing on the site. At the moment it's hard to see the progress but there definitely is some.
Back at the Barn Helen G joined us for coffee - Helen is hoping to be able to walk on Thursdays in the New Year.
