Health Walk - Thursday 24th March 2016

Photos by Michael & Sandy - Please click on photos to see a larger one

Today we had eighteen walkers - Bernadette, Carol, Carole, Colin, David, David B, Elizabeth H, Graham, Helen G, James, Jesse, Kelly, Linda D, Linda E, Michael, Paul, Sandy and Suzie.

I think it was Jesse's first walk.

It was a lovely dull and wet morning for our walk - well it was nice to see so many of us on this inclement morning.

David was leading.  He took us through the Pinetum and down to the Wooden Bridge.  Here Suzie left us and walked along the river and back up Snake Hill to the Barn - green route.

We walked on up into Gravel Hole Wood crossing the Clayton-Le-Woods Women's Institute bridge into Dog Kennel Wood.

We left Dog Kennel Wood and climbed up into the Field to drop down to the Lake

Walking along the lake side I was minded to think of the rule some photographers recommend - 'have something red in the foreground' - ha ha!

Down the steps to the Picnic Area. Through the trees you can see the enormous mud patch left by the floods and rain.

Walking along the bottom of the Dam we saw the children 'pond dipping'.  David B walked across to join them.

and round the pond.

We continued along the Cycle Track, dropping down to the Cinder Path and back to the Barn via Sue Ryder's Drive.

I didn't feel inclined to go and get more photos of the new visitors centre, below is one from Wednesday:
