Twenty-four walkers today - Barbara, Carmel, Clare, Colin C, Elizabeth M, Frankie, Ilene, Irene T, James, John W, Judy, Karin, Lawrence, Margaret A, Margaret W, Michael, Muriel, Pat, Paul, Peter, Stephanie, Suzie, Sylvia and Zandra.
It was Stephanie's first walk with us. Stephanie had actually registered for the walk in advance - a first
Cloudy with blue patches of sky and we did have some sunshine warmer than of late, a good morning for walking.
Michael was leading and Carmel was back marker to the main walk. Suzie was leading the short/slow walk.
Michael asked if anyone was averse to going up Sheep Hill and after having no objections outlined his plans for the walk and set off into the Pinetum and over the Wooden Bridge turning right along the Cycle Track

Almost immediately someone spotted this funghi on a high tree stump and Frankie insisted that Michael photograph it.
We continued along National Cycle Route 55 and came across

the rangers working alongside the track.

James striding out ahead of the main group
We crossed the road, Michael stopping the traffic in his Hi-Vis jacket, and walked up the path alongside the road. At the top the traffic stopped voluntarily as we crossed the road back into Cam Lane.

As we progressed down the lane we saw this squirrel watching us

Many of the trees still have their leaves and they are stunningly beautiful

Past the Ponderosa heading for Hawks Clough. Everywhere there were leaves making it quite adventurous going down hill
We left the wood and entered the Field going straight past the steps to the Lake. In the distance we could see the new trees

which at a glance look like a graveyard!
As we left the Field Michael gave the walkers a choice of following him round the Lake and risking the pools along the bottom of the Dam or going straight to the Stone Bridge. Only five followed him round the Lake and the path turned out to be OK along the bottom of the Dam.
Suzie's group set off into the Pinetum, crossed the Wooden Bridge and walked along the Cycle Track to the Covert Pond where they turned round and walked to the Stone Bridge and climbed Snake Hill back to the Barn.
