Carmel led the long walkers into the Pinetum and down Cardiac Hill, over the Wooden Bridge, turning right on the Cycle Path then left up between Gravel Hole Wood and Black Banks Wood.
Entering Ravel Hole Wood and after a pause to catch our breath on through Dog Kennel Wood, right through the Kissing Gate into the field, down the steps to the Lake, round the Lake down the Long Steps, round the Picnic Area and

over the Stone Bridge

Here Frankie led a small group who elected to leave the walk and go up Snake Hill
back to the Visitors Centre/cafe. We later learned that a similar group of Elite walkers took the same short cut from their walk.
Carmel pressed on
up Bikers Hill into Walkers Wood, here I began to regret not having gone with the others up Snake Hill.

Carmel had originally decided to go into Cock Cabin Wood but decided we needed to press on

Here I am looking forward to the remainder of the walk as there are no more hills!

John B: "Elite walk, 13 walkers plus Paddy. Colin C leading, Brian back marking. Up to Barclay Drive, round the old barn and Hall to rejoin Snake Hill at the gate. Down then left to continue to circle Cock Cabin Wood from the south end. left to return to the Stone Bridge. Most continued to ascend Cardiac hill, turning right at the Many Eyed Tree to return to the café. A group of four, self included, returned direct up Snake Hill."
Today's walks (Red Main Group, Green Short Walk Option Group).
Where there are green arrows on the red route it means the Elite walkers had followed the main >> or the main group had followed the Elite walkers >>. similarly for the blue arrows
