Photos by Michael S - Please click on photos to see a larger one Jimmy set off straight down Snake Hill turning up Bikers Hill into Walkers Wood emerging and, surprisingly, took us back down Bikers Hill to cross the Stone Bridge. He led us round the Picnic Area, up the Long Steps to the Lake, along the Dam and through the Kissing Gate into the Field and along Cam Lane Looking left or north through the now leafless trees you can see that work has begun restoring the old Hawksclough Farmhouse Turning right
We climbed up Cardiac Hill on the devastated path into the Pinetum, turning right at John's 'Many Eyed Tree' and making the last Climb back to the Visitors Centre. John B: "Elite walk, 7 walkers, weather a bit dreich. John B leading, Colin C back marking. Down to gate, left to circle the Hall and old barn, left up Barclay Drive, right on main track to descend Cardiac hill. right to left up Gravel Hole Wood, through to Dog Kennel Wood, along east side of lake to ascend steps to meadow, right along path to stile, down ramp to stone bridge, up Snake Hill to café./Visitors Centre." Dreich Weather: "A word that is commonly used to describe the Scottish weather has been named the "most iconic" Scots word. "Dreich" - meaning dull or gloomy - topped a poll to mark Book Week Scotland, led by the Scottish Book Trust. It beat off contenders including "glaikit", "scunnered" and "shoogle". 20th November 2019 - Google"
