Sheila T: "Thirty walkers turned out on a very damp morning but spirits kept high. James led twenty three on the long walk and Julie back marked. Zandra led seven walkers on the Elite walk with Brian back marking."

Jimmy anxious to be off rounding up the late comers, probably a queue at the ticket machine. I wonder if walkers know they can pay anytime before they leave the car park but make sure you know hat times you pass the camera.

He took us down Snake Hill over the Stone Bridge and south along the Cycle Track, National Route 55, passed the

Covert Pond where a few walkers saw the Heron, I'm assured it's in the centre of this photo.
We continued to Town Brow where we crossed the road

the Heron was still there but decided to fly off before we could focus our cameras.
We carried on, crossed the Wooden Bridge and walked up Cardiac Hill back to the café/Visitors Centre into the warm and dry of the classroom.
Zandra: The Elite walkers set off, 7 of us and darling Alfie. We went down the path to Cardiac Hill, and saw the new bench being positioned, in the Outlook part, I think. We continued down, over the wooden bridge, turn right, next left up into Gravel hole Wood. As the wind hadn't got up we decided it was safe to walk through. Over the bridge into Dog Kennel Wood, and then down and round the lake, where we had a magnificent flying display by one of the herons. Then down the steps where the primroses are out and along up to the right to the path that leads round to Cock Cabin Wood and a squelchy Cinder Path. Then just followed the road along up towards Sue Ryder House, and from there back to the Cafe, for a well deserved hot drink in the classroom/café/(Visitors Centre). Yes it did rain, but we didn't care, we walked through mud and puddles, and we still didn't care! Nice morning for my first walk as a leader."
Today's walks (Red Main Group, Green Short Walk Option Group).
Where there are green arrows on the red route it means the Elite walkers had followed the main >> or the main group had followed the Elite walkers >>. similarly for the blue arrows
