Photos by Michael - Please click on photos to see a larger one Today we had twenty-one walkers. Carmel was leading the main walk - she said she was taking us into 'Outer Mongolia'. Michael was back marker. Peter was leading the short walk. Carmel avoided the Cinder Path because it was guaranteed to be wet and muddy after all the rain since Tuesday We walked into the Pinetum the short walk group following Symplocarpus foetidus, commonly known as skunk cabbage or eastern skunk cabbage (also swamp cabbage, clumpfoot cabbage, or meadow cabbage, foetid pothos or polecat weed), is a low growing, foul-smelling plant that grows in wetlands of eastern North America. After crossing the Wooden Bridge we turned left to walk along the Cycle Track, the short walk group still behind but they walked up the slope to the Lake, round the Lake, down the steps and round the Picnic area.
We walked under the M65 and entered the north area of the Park, sometimes called the Dark Side but today it's Outer Mongolia. We walked along the top but soon crossed the field to pick up the path lower down then walking along the bottom and climbing back up to leave the Park and retrace our steps towards the Stone Bridge. We reached the fork in the path, keeping right, and walked up Snake Hill back to the Barn The short walk group, when they passed through the kissing gate, walked round the south side of the Hall back to the Barn.
