Health Walk - Thursday 1st June 2017
Photos by Michael - Please click on photos to see a larger one
Today we had twenty-seven walkers. Another gloriously sunny morning
Michael S was leading the main walk, James Mc was back marker.
Peter was leading the short walk option (Elite), eight today.
Michael said he was doing the reverse of Tuesday's walk which he did but as it turned out with a different start
Michael set off round the Hall and into James Walk to the Cinder Path
From the Cinder Path we followed the Cycle Track into Cock Cabin Wood

At the Pond we found the Elite walkers, starting after us had leaf frogged us, they went straight to Sue Ryder's Drive and then the Cinder Path.

Leaving the pond although that's pretty obvious

Leaving Cock Cabin Wood, the Elite walkers were out of sight now.

We walked down into Walkers Wood, the wild roses are now in full bloom, and

here the Elite walkers stood on ceremony and allowed us to pass
We crossed the Stone Bridge and walked along the bottom of the Dam to look at the Common Spotted Orchids

and climbed up the steps to the Lake. The Elite walkers avoided the steps and went up the slope meeting us again this time walking in the opposite direction.
The Elite walkers went down the steps and walked across the Picnic Area, crossing the Stone Bridge again and walked up Snake Hill back to the Barn

We carried on along the Lake side to see the Heron chick on its nest

A Canada Goose, a Mallard and a Great Crested Grebe, the other Grebe is diving near the Lake

We left the Lake, struggled up the steps to the Field and walked down to the Kissing Gate and entered Dog Kennel Wood.
Into Gravel Hole Wood, down the path to the Cycle Track, across the Wooden Bridge, up Cardiac Hill and through the Pinetum back to the Barn
