Photos by Michael - Please click on photos to see a larger one Today we only had twenty-one walkers and rain before the start. Do we have some fine-weather walkers? The rain stopped as we started and we had a pleasant walk in the relative cool. A bit dark for photos. Margaret W was leading the main walk, John W was back marker. Peter, back from caravanning, was leading the short walk option (Elite), Suzi back marking, six today. Margaret outlined her walk, virtually the reverse of Carmel's Tuesday walk, and led us off round past the sunny (not today) side of the Hall and down Snake Hill. We walked over the Stone Bridge, around the bottom of the Dam and up to and round the Lake. Climbing up into the Field we walked to Hawks Clough and started to walk clockwise round the ASDA Loop through Green Wood. Having climbed two sets of steps, the last one forty-one steps high, we emerged onto Cam Lane and headed towards the Ponderosa. Arriving back at Hawks Clough we walked along the Field down through the Kissing Gate and down the Slope to the Cycle Track, turning left to walk along the river.
Struggling up Cardiac Hill
The Elite walkers set off in the reverse direction to us, entering the Pinetum from the car park and going down Cardiac Hill, over the Wooden Bridge. Here they departed from our route and went up into Gravel Hole Wood, Dog Kennel Wood, picking up our route again round the Lake down the Long Steps, along the bottom of the Dam, over the Stone Bridge, up Snake Hill, round the back of the Hall and back to the Barn.
