Peter W was leading the Optional Short Walk Group and Suzi S was back marker. James led off around the sunny (well sometimes - it was damp with the odd drop of rain) side of the Hall and joined the main path down Snake Hill towards the Stone Bridge but he turned off towards Walkers Wood whilst the Elite group crossed the bridge and walked along the bottom of the Dam and up the Long Steps to the Lake. James took us up through Walkers Wood, Cock Cabin Wood, round the pond and back down the Cycle Track to the Stone Bridge, over the Stone Bridge and up the slope through the Kissing Gate and into the Field. Here Peter having led the group round the western side of the Lake took his group up into Dog Kennel Wood, through Gravel Hole Wood and over the Wooden Bridge, up Cardiac Hill, into the Pinetum or as Peter calls it the American Garden (both names are correct), up along the Viewing Area where they watched a Nuthatch and back to the Barn James led through us the Field and along to Hawks Clough then up past the Ponderosa continuing along Cam Lane to the top of Sheep Hill. He led us across the road and down Sheep where he crossed the road back again.
We walked along the Cycle Track, noticing the Covert Pond was becoming completely overgrown, and back to the Wooden Bridge where we followed the Elite group but avoiding the Viewing Area back to the Barn.
