Today we twenty-five walkers again.
Carmel was leading the main walk, Michael S was back marker. Suzi was leading the short walk option (Elite), but no back marker - nine today.
Carmel introduced the walk and set off up the shaded path straight for the Pinetum.
We walked down Cardiac Hill, over the Wooden Bridge, up into Gravel Hole Wood then Dog Kennel Wood

Here we are leaving Dog Kennel Wood, going through the Kissing Gate and up into the Field

Oh dear! We were going the wrong way so turned round to go down

to the Lake

What is this lady thinking? Enjoying the peace near the water? What is her dog looking at?
Photo 7
A fisherman winding his line in. Looks like an old boot on the end?

We march on seemingly not noticing the family communicating with the Canada Geese and Mallards

Notice the new picnic tables provided by
the Lancashire Environmental Fund but set up by our rangers, some twice because, presumably by vandals, they had been overturned

Approaching the Stone Bridge, I'd taken a short cut across the Picnic Area and was resting on one of the benches.
We walked up Bikers Hill into Walkers Wood and on into Cock Cabin Wood

At the Pond now, what are they looking at?
Photo 18
Several Damsel Flies, can you pick out this one - bottom right third?
Photo 19
Off again, this time down Bikers Hill, back over the Stone Bridge and along the river to the Wooden Bridge again. We struggled, well I did, up Cardiac Hill and through the Pinetum back to the Barn.

I walked down to see the progress on the sewer installation
- it's not been straight forward this is the third attempt to get through to the existing sewer. The 'Living' building is supposed to dispose of its own sewerage, is this a temporary expediency to bring forward the opening day? Has the 'Living' been abandoned?

The LWT staff were having a
Mad Hatter’s tea party to celebrate Catherine H's 40th birthday
The Elite walkers followed the main group into the Pinetum but walked down the 'shortcut' to Cardiac Hill, over the Wooden Bridge, turning left to walk along the Cycle Track. They walked walked up along the bottom of the Dam and up the Long Steps to the Lake walking round the Lake and up into Dog Kennel Wood, Gravel Hole Wood, retracing their steps along the river and up Snake Hill, along the, today sunny side, of the Hall back to the Barn
Today's walks (Red Main Group, Green Short Walk Option Group).
Dotted red line is where some walkers took a short cut
Where there are green arrows on the red route it means the Elite walkers had followed the main >> or the main group had followed the Elite walkers >>. >> walking the same route twice.
