Photos by Michael - Please click on photos to see a larger one Today we had twenty-five walkers and inclement weather - continuous rain Carmel was leading the main walk, James was back marker. Suzi was leading the short walk option (Elite) Margaret was back marker - nine today. Carmel introduced the walk and set off through the car park, As we approached the Stone Bridge we turned left and walked up Bikers Hill along the Cycle Track, over the motorway bridge, M6, onto the A49, Wigan Road, under the M65 and into the northern section of the Park The rain had made sections of the path muddy so we tiptoed round these and, turning left, we started down towards Stag Lodge. We walked along the bottom past the large pond and up round the side of the M65 motorway leaving the north side where we entered and walked back along the A49 We reentered the main Park and Carmel cut her planned walk short because of the time, we hadn't dawdled but we would have gone over the hour. Other Chorley walks take over an hour and as we now have a shorter walk I think we can sensibly go over the hour. The Elite walkers started the same way but walked into the Pinetum and up to the Viewing Area then down Cardiac Hill, over the Wooden Bridge turning left to walk along the river (Cycle Track) They walked walked up the slope to the short steps and walked along the Dam to the long steps and walked along the bottom of the Dam to the Stone Bridge. They crossed the Bridge and walked up Snake Hill extending their walk by passing the new building and going down the path into the Pinetum and returning up the next path to the car park then walking up the side of the Barn past the south side of the Hall round the front of the Hall and back to the Barn.
