Health Walk - Thursday 5th October 2017

Today we had twenty-seven walkers and some sunshine which highlighted the autumn colours beginning to appear
James was leading the main walk with David H back marking. Peter led the Elite group into the Pinetum with Sue back marking.

James, having promised us a walk into the south side, led us away from the Barn and into the Pinetum.

After a hundred yards or so Graham spotted this Comma butterfly - It appears to be extending northwards probably as a result of global warming in recent years.
We continued along the Cycle Track until we could cross the river and climb uphill eventually coming out

across from the Ley Inn. We walked down Back Lane a little way but shortly cross the road

up again until we came out on the Sheep Hill Lane

and walked down hill to the cross the road rejoining the Cycle Track.
We walked along until we came to the Wooden Bridged which we crossed and climbed back up Cardiac Hill but as we walked between the two gate post James took us sharp right still climbing past the new building, out into the car park and back to the Barn.
Peter led the short option walkers, sometime known as the Elite group, up the side of the Barn and between the Hall buildings past the cafe and round the front of the Hall.
Carrying on round the front of the Hall they came out onto Snake Hill, descending to cross the Stone Bridge, walking along the bottom of the Dam, climbing the Long Steps to the Lake, round the Lake and up into Dog Kennel Wood, Gravel Hole Wood coming out to cross the Stone Bridge preceding the main group up Cardiac Hill past the new building into the car park and back to the Barn.

*Cam Lane - James Mc has found a map which shows Cam Lane starting from the Stone Bridge, it probably starts earlier but we haven't any evidence of that
