Photos by Michael S & Eileen P & Sheila T - Please click on photos to see a larger one Today we had twenty-eight walkers who were rewarded with a lovely walk under relatively clear skies. Michael S led the main walk with Lawrence back marking. Susan S led the Elite group with Colin C back marking. Michael introduced himself and begged the twalkers to take particular care because of the icy everywhere. There had been flurries of snow and there was still a lot of frozen water about from the recent rain. Susan similarly stressed this to the Elite twalkers - see photos 6, 14 & 15. We set off round the back of the Barn towards the Cinder Path
Leaving Cock Cabin Wood we entered Walkers Wood, Michael decided that it would be safer than Bikers Hill because of the possibility of ice on the slope which turned out to be correct as the Elite group had difficulty going up Bikers Hill. We carried on and crossed the Stone Bridge.
We walked down to the other Kissing Gate and climbed up into Dog Kennel Wood
We crossed the Stone Bridge and walked up Snake Hill
The Elite walkers managed to walk in the opposite direction to the main group starting their walk down Snake Hill and continuing up Bikers Hill into Cock Cabin Wood the the Cinder Path to return along Sue Ryder's Drive to the Barn where they were enjoying their survival of the conditions when the main group arrived back.
