Susan S led the short option walk with Colin C back marking. James introduced himself and assured walkers there were no stiles but pointed out it would be longer than usual He led us off down Berkeley Drive on to Shady Lane. We walked up Shady Lane to the obscure Kissing Gate into the filed
Back to the path walking down the field and crossing the road to walk along to and up Back Lane and down Wood End Road. We left Wood End Road by a path on our left and waked through the houses
Leaving the Duck Ponds we followed the path round to the right eventually coming back out on to Wood End Road again. After a few metres we retraced our steps to cross the road into The Queen Mother's 80th Birthday Avenue of Oaks. After a few metres James led us into the field alongside the river coming out near the Covert Pond, walking along the Cycle Track to cross the Wooden Bridge, up Cardiac Hill, into the Pinetum and back to the Visitors Centre Sue led the Elite walkers through the Car Park, along the side of the Barn, round the sunny side of Cuerden Hall, waving to Irene as they passed her room, continuing round the Hall and down the Drive to the Cinder Path, walking along the path, joining the Cycle Track, anti-clockwise round Cock Cabin Pond, leaving Cock Cabin Wood they entered Walkers Wood emerging to carry on down Bikers Hill and climbed up Snake Hill back to the Visitors Centre
