Health Walk - Thursday 12th July 2018

Today we had twenty-nine walkers.  It was a lovely sunny morning.

James led the main walk with Elizabeth M back marking.  

Suzi led the Elite walk with David H back marking.

They followed the main group into the Pinetum and down Cardiac Hill both groups turning right at the bottom.  While the main group disappeared alongside the river the Elite group walked up into Gravel Hole Wood, into Dog Kennel Wood coming out to go down the Slope and crossed the Stone Bridge.

The main group continued upstream along the river ducking under fallen trees and climbing over fallen trees negotiating the prominent tree roots and slippery slopes.

When the stepping stones came into view

James encouraged the walkers to cross the stepping stones in the field on the west side of the river.

As you can see James made sure everyone was safe helping a few by standing in the river himself to give them support.

We continued south through the field coming out on to Town Brow.  Circumnavigating the car park we returned to the Park and James took us off the Cycle Track to walk through the grass alongside the river leaving the field near the Covert Pond and walking along the Cycle Track to cross the Stone Bridge and follow the Elite walkers up Bikers Hill and along to the Cinder Path.  

The Elite walkers deviated to walk round Cock Cabin Pond first.

From the Cinder Path the Elite walkers walked up Sue Ryder's Drive to turn and walk around the back of the LWT Barn, into the Car Park and back to the Visitors Centre

James took the main group off the drive and into Wilbraham's Wood,

walking round the perimeter and the east side of Cuerden Hall back to the Visitors Centre

Today's walks (Red Main Group, Blue short cuts and Green Short Walk Option Group).  
Where there are green arrows on the red route it means the Elite walkers had followed the main >> or the main group had followed the Elite walkers >>.
