Health Walk - Thursday 16th August 2018

Today we only had eighteen walkers. It was an enjoyable morning with lots of sunshine and the rain held off.

Irene S led the main walk with Michael S back marking.

Suzi led the Elite walk with John B back marking. (John has a Leader's Certificate)

Irene took us down Snake Hill for short way then across and round Cuerden Hall

Now that the main group were out of the way Suzi took the Elite group through the car park and into the Pinetum where they were in for a surprise!

we saw a large number of cows looking lost. Are there any cows in the Cow Field?

We walked on through the wood until we joined the Cinder Path. Leaving the Cinder Path we walked straight down the Cycle Track to the Stone Bridge. Crossing the Stone Bridge we

saw the Elite group coming towards us along the river. I later found out that on entering the Pinetum they were invited into the Walled Orchard

where they thoroughly enjoyed looking around - Judy confirmed later that they were looking at a Wisteria

We walked up the Slope to enter the Field and while we carried on along Cam Lane the Elite Group walked down the steps to the Reservoir, down the Slope and leaving us behind they walked up Snake Hill back to the Visitors Centre

Irene took us along to Hawks Clough then clockwise round Green Wood to come back out

on to Cam Lane (here I'd rushed ahead to look if there were any cows in the Cow Field but Irene wasn't interested in changing her planned route) and passed the Ponderosa.

We followed Cam Lane back to Hawks Clough then down the steps to the Reservoir

and following the path that the Elite group had taken back to the Visitors Centre
