Today we had seventeen walkers for Carmel's walk and eight for the short walk
A dull bracing winter morning with a few spots of rain. The High Wind warning signs were out!
Carmel led the main group with Sheila yet again back marker.
Brian L led the Elite group with Maggie back marker.
Carmel took us into the Pinetum, down Cardiac Hill, over the Wooden Bridge, turning right to walk up into Gravel Hole Wood. along through Dog Kennel Wood emerging to go through the Kissing Gate into the Field and along Cam Lane to Hawks Clough.
Leaving Cam Lane we dropped down over the Footbridge into Green Wood to follow the path round the back of ASDA back on to Cam Lane

Back on to Cam Lane we turned towards

where I saw these catkins. I'm sure when I was at school we were taught to look for the red tipped ones which allegedly were the male ones. I've never found any since I left junior school - false memory syndrome?

Carrying on along Cam Lane the water on the left of the path seems to have extended quite a way.
At Hawks Clough we passed through the Kissing Gate into the Field and down to the Kissing Gate, down the Slope

Hello! Another group walking against the 'tide'

Here they are disappearing along Cam Lane, when we said hello the leading ones ignored us?

In the race to the Visitors Centre to be at the head of the queue for coffee, Carmel's leading walkers are already overtaking the Elite group

The rest of the main group are metres behind.
Brian, being conscious of the High Winds signs, had led the Elite group down Snake Hill, over the Stone Bridge all the way to Town Brow where they turned round and retraced their steps back to the Visitors Centre.
Today's walks (Red Main Group, Green Short Walk Option Group).
Where there are green arrows on the red route it means the Elite walkers had followed the main >> or the main group had followed the Elite walkers >>. similarly for the blue arrows
